Dubai Customs and Civil Defense Department sign MoU

Dubai Customs and the General Department of Civil Defense in Dubai inked today morning, Monday, December 19th, 2011 a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to reinforce business relations and further develop the provided services by both sides to the public and clients. A step aimed at achieving mutual interests, supporting partnership efforts towards fulfilling Dubai Government vision in the field of fostering government partnership and increasing customer satisfaction.
 
Mr. Yousif Al Sahlawi, Senior Executive Director of corporate Affairs at Dubai Customs signed the MoU with Col. Hamdan Mohammed Al Raisi, assistant director general for administrative and financial affairs at Dubai Civil Defense Department in the presence of a number of managers and officials from both departments. The signing took place on the sidelines of the two departments’ participation in Dubai Government’s Achievement Exhibition opened on Monday, December 19th, 2011 at Dubai World Trade Center.
 
Al Sahlawi said that the signing of the MoU comes as part of the distinguished relations between Dubai Customs and Dubai Civil Defence Department seeking to achieve best customer service delivery standards in such a way that will enhance the spirit of the existing cooperation between both sides as to meet their common objectives in accordance with the best practices that will serve UAE interest.
 
He also pointed out that the MoU provides for boosting cooperation in exchange of expertise and information, providing consultations of common interest and the technical coordination between them. He added that Dubai Customs considers government partnership a pillar on which the success of Dubai Strategic Plan relies.
 
From his part, Col. Al Raisi expressed his department’s eagerness to materialize its strategic partnership with private and public sectors, and different society entities based on the best practices and guided by the federal government and Dubai Government’s strategic plans. “ Our aim is to make the UAE one of the safest and most secure countries in the world through effective application of memoranda of understanding signed with our partners. We work hard to ensure that all facilities in Dubai including Dubai Customs have solid and safe structure. We are aware of the leading role of Dubai Customs in developing our national economy. So, the MoU is an important step in solidifying and deepening shared coordination and cooperation in all walks of life”.
 
As per the MoU, the Civil Defense Department will conduct periodical checkup to Dubai Customs premises and facilities, lay down emergency plans, ensure satisfaction of safety and security requirements at Dubai Customs, organize awareness sessions and training courses for Dubai Customs staff to introduce them to safety and security measures on how to handle fire, emergency cases and unusual events and incidents. Both departments will establish a joint team to supervise the execution of the mutual business, work together to facilitate the process of obtaining information and data and produce a plan and a mechanism for giving effect to this MOU.
 
In the past few years, Dubai Customs signed a number of memoranda of understanding with the key partners on how to benefit from the mutual experiences with respect to work, training, employment and inspection. Furthermore, Dubai Customs opted to improve customers’ services in line with the objectives of Dubai Government Strategic Plan achieving quality and excellence standards which meet the best international standards with regards to business procedures and modus operandi as well as improving customer satisfaction and partners’ loyalty.
