The Recruitment Section of the Human Resources Department at Dubai Customs organised an open day in coordination with the National Human Resources Development and Employment Authority (Tanmia). The open day took place on Wednesday 30 April 2014 in the Tanmia premises with the goal of seeking qualified UAE national candidates to fill openings in inspection at Customs centres. The event offered a valuable opportunity to job seekers to get first-hand information on DC’s operations and the required skills for every job opening within DC.
The open day was held in coordination with the Airport Operations Department and Jebel Ali Customs Centres Management. Four committees were formed to conduct interviews for 37 candidates from Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain.
DC’s team included Khamis Al Mehari, Recruitment Manager, Abdulaziz Al Balooshi, Recruitment Assistant Officer, Fahed Al Balooshi, Recruitment Assistant Officer, and Mohammed Farid, Recruitment Assistant Officer. From Customs centres, Waleed Issa, Director of Al Maktoum Airport Center, and Meteb Al Bannai, Director of Jebel Ali Inspection Center, were at the open day.
While personally checking on the progress of interviews, H.E. Mohammed Matar Al Marri, Director General of the Authority, praised the localization initiatives undertaken by DC and stressed on the importance of taking part in such events as they are a major platform bringing together job opportunities and job seekers under one roof, offering potential hires a detailed insight into the posted vacancies to be able to make well-informed decisions.
“DC’s organising such open day comes in an effort to reinforce collaboration and synergy amongst local and federal government entities. It also portrays a positive initiative on the part of Dubai Customs seeking to open new channels for employing experienced and academically qualified nationals to assume vacant roles,” said Khamis Al Mehari.
Dubai Customs is well ahead on Emiratisation, with a staggering 84% of its staff being local in 2013, he added.
