Saeed Ahmed Al Tayer, Director of Land Customs Centres at Dubai Customs, delivered an address on behalf of  DC at the meeting. He said, ”Dubai Customs’ sponsoring of the AULT meeting is in recognition of the importance of this event to the land transport, economy and trade as well as to promote Arab joint action under the Arab Free Trade Agreement.”
Al Tayer added that Dubai Customs constantly develops its technical and human resources to expedite inspection procedures and ensure smooth and fast movement of travellers at the Customs ports. This has definitely reinforced Dubai and the UAE’s position as a regional linchpin for international trade and a destination of choice for travellers.

He stressed that the Land Customs Centres Management at Dubai Customs operates as per DC’s strategy for ensuring smooth flow of legitimate trade and the security of borders and ports. “The Land Customs Centres Management strives primarily to streamline inspection procedures and ease the movement of goods, conveyances and passengers as well as secure borders and protect the society against illicit materials and counterfeits.”

Al Tayer further noted that Dubai Customs is committed to implementing all agreements signed under the Customs Union of the GCC States as well as pan-Arab Customs agreements.

The Land Customs Centres Management carried out a number of development and construction projects in collaboration and coordination with both local and international stakeholders to cater for the needs of clients, complete their transactions swiftly and easily and create a healthy work environment. These projects include the passengers’ building at Hatta Border Crossing, the current freight facility at Hatta Customs Center, the Customs Inspection Center at Dubai Cars and Automotive Zone (DUCAMZ) and Customs warehouses at the Dry Port area.
