His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, honoured Dubai Customs with 6 distinction awards, during the ceremony that was held yesterday to announce and award the winners of the 17th edition of Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP) Awards for the year 2013-2014.  

Dubai Customs earned the DGEP awards in the following categories:
- Electronically distinguished government entity.
- Distinguished technological/technical project: for the Advanced Container Screening System.
- Innovative idea: for Al Kashif vehicle.
- Distinguished administrative/financial employee: Hussam Mohammed Juma.
- Creative employee: Ibrahim Al Kamali.
- Unknown soldier employee: Maryam Haji Al Balooshi. 

  “One thing that we learnt from His Highness is to never rest on our laurels, and to always pursue and maintain our excellence,” said H.E. Ahmed Mahboob, Director of Dubai Customs, adding that “Dubai has become a brand name for excellence on all levels; and in Dubai Customs we are very keen on undertaking our vital role in attaining the highest competitiveness levels for the UAE and for Dubai as well. This can only be achieved by constantly improving our customs services to provide the best trade advantage that positions Dubai as the destination of choice for traders and investors.” 

On his part, Mr. Ahmed Abdusalam Kazim, Director of Strategy and Corporate Excellence Department, was also very contented at seeing Dubai Customs scoop 6 of the DGEP awards. He said, “We will devote more efforts as one unified innovation-oriented team to maintain these achievements and improve on them in the next editions, guided by the farsighted vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.”
