Dubai Customs celebrates recognition of 40 employees on earning ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System Certification of leading audits

As part of the initiative on training and qualifying a number of employees in accordance with ISO 9001:2008 and within the framework of reviewing and promoting the current customs business procedures, Dubai Customs celebrated the recognition of 40 employees for earning Quality Management Certificates of approved lead auditors. The successful certified employees have demonstrated commitment to ISO QMS requirements while taking part in a training program held at Customs Training Centre with the participation of professional specialists from RINA Group International for Research, Training and Certification.

The certification distribution ceremony was attended by Mr Yousef AL-Sahlawi, Senior Executive of Corporate Affairs, Mrs Nadia Abdulla Kamali, (Acting) Executive Director of HR, Finance & Administration Affairs, Mr Ahmed Kazim, Director of Strategy and Corporate Excellence Department and Mr Andrea De Biella, the Regional Director for RINA International.

From his part, Mr. Yousef AL-Sahlawi, pointed out that Dubai Customs gives due concerns to train and prepare its employees through setting out based training course programs in different areas of customs and administration activities. These efforts come within Dubai Customs’ Strategy of being internationally the best along with achieving its vision of being the leading Customs administration in the world supporting legitimate trade, especially, the content of these training course programs are designed on the basis of most advanced scientific materials mainly used in training, particularly in the areas of Customs and other related ancillary areas.
 
The training program was mainly intended to provide understanding in areas of the Quality Management System requirements of ISO- 9001:2008, talent-useful tools, skills and competencies used in internal and external operational auditing, good practices in relation to audit functions, typical ways used in the scope of information gathering and outcome assessment. The active session of the program had mainly focused on the practical training and ended up with the evaluation test with aim of preparing trainees to gain international recognition from the International Register of Certificated Auditors (IRCA).
 
During this 12 day program, employees from different Customs divisions and departments have attended the sessions. The attendants were divided into two groups including 20 employees each with average of 48 hours training per employee. The program introduced theoretical training and practical auditing exercises on how to audit procedures related to corporations and organization linking their commitments to ISO requirements and standards, understanding how accreditation of these certificates given along with realization of matters related ISO 9001:2008

Mr AL-Sahlawi highlighted that the training program has extensively enhanced the professional development needs of people at Dubai Customs who were chosen to validate compliance to high quality standards of their respective units within a program of reviewing and modernizing entirely department business procedures, meantime, maintaining consistency of their performance in-line with best world class standards and DGEP requirements, promoting the role of Human Resources Department at Dubai Customs and ensuring improvement of customers, clients and key-partners levels of satisfaction and loyalty.
 
Mr. AL-Sahlawi explained that Dubai Customs is planning to provide training in areas of Quality Management Systems to more than 100 employees. Practically, the Department internally in-line with ISO:9001:2008 and within a short period of time has documented all key supportive operations and procedures. “The outcomes achieved by Dubai Customs is now clearly documented on this day on which we celebrate recognition of 40 employees who deserved to earn IRCA accredited certificates of lead auditors” he said.

Mrs. Nadia Kamali, (Acting) Executive Director of Human Resources, Finance & Administration Affairs emphasized that Dubai Customs through the employees’ training program endeavors to improve and modernize level of job competency and service quality allocations taking into account that Dubai Customs reputation is noted one of the largest leading departments and authorities and is capable of updating itself to easily undergo ongoing local, regional and international challengeable changes.
 
Dubai Customs, through a set of these programs which were tailored to train the employees, will always seek to support its employees and help them to improve their skills and competencies to meet achievement of challengeable objectives Dubai Customs Strategic Plan which is embedied within Dubai Strategic Plan-2015, she added. Mrs. Nadia further explained that the training mechanism is basically directed as according to the training need analysis which is primarily an essential step for identifying the program and then follow its development, outcome assessment, implementation, evaluation of trainees level performance throughout stages and rating the benefits after the trainees be on jobs.
 
Mr. Yousef AL-Sahlawi, at the end of the celebration offered Dubai Customs’ shield to Mr. Andrea de Biella, the Director regional for Rina Group International and distributed honouring certificates to the employees who earned ISO:9001:2008 leading audit certificates, besides, honouring other employees who made efforts for making the training program a successful event.
