The Organizing Committee of the Carpet & Art Oasis 2014, annually held by Dubai Customs as part of Dubai Shopping Festival, has conducted its first draw in the current edition of the oasis. Mr Khalid Rashid Masood from the United Arab Emirates won the draw and took home an Iranian luxury handmade carpet.
Mr Masood, the prize winner, thanked Dubai Customs for organising this exhibition which showcases some of the world’s finest and most gorgeous carpets that meet all tastes and needs, some of which are handcrafted in well-known rug-making regions worldwide. Masood expressed his joy at earning this sumptuous Iranian piece of art and considered it one of his most valuable possessions.
Abdul Rahman Issa, Chairman of the Carpet Oasis’ Organizing Committee, said that the committee is keen to promote such events during the exhibition to enhance interaction with visitors and enrich the activities of the fair. He noted that other similar draws will be held throughout the period of the oasis which runs until February 2nd.
At every rug purchase with a value of AED 1000 or more, visitors of the Carpet & Art Oasis also receive vouchers entitling them to enter mega draws from Nissan. A draw on a Nissan car takes place daily at the Global Village as part of DSF activities.
This year’s oasis features collections of exquisite Persian rugs, handmade in renown rug making regions in Iran like Qom, Tabriz and Esfahan, as well as the famous Afghan wool carpets; alongside the exotic cashmere carpets and other art items on display by exhibitors from Turkey, India, China, Turkmenistan and Pakistan.
The Carpet Oasis is open for visitors Saturdays to Thursdays from 10am to 10pm and on Fridays from 4pm to 11pm. Relocating to a new location at Dubai Festival City, the oasis is becoming increasingly popular among visitors. The oasis receives 50,000 visitors everyday.
