At the GITEX 2013, Dubai Customs presents its transformation into the first 100% smart department, as it launched a package of smart services early in October. Within the framework of a comprehensive development process, Dubai Customs had made all necessary changes not only to offer exclusive services to mobile users, but also to make all the necessary changes to receive requests for services from customers on a 24\7 basis, and deliver those services promptly. For these purposes, a smart follow-up system was internally developed to allow concerned employees to receive customer requests on their smart phones and process them immediately. All customs services offered by Dubai Customs, a total of 19 services, are available for smart phone users and are aligned with the new system.
Using smart display technologies, visitors at GITEX are introduced to the achievements made by Dubai Customs in its transformation into the first 100% smart government department. Visitors can also receive updates on new services via their smart phones by downloading an app that allows them to browse all information and details related to new services and all Dubai Customs’ processes. The presentation was made in an exciting and entertaining format, and visitors have the opportunity to win special prizes.
At the exhibition, a separate pavilion in a special location is set up for Dubai Customs to display the smart government services via these technologies. Dubai Customs also holds a platform within the Dubai Smart Government’s pavilion inside the showrooms. The Dubai Customs’ pavilion offers an opportunity for all government departments to become familiarized with how the Department managed to change into a smart organization, and presents to them Dubai Customs’ expertise in this area. It also offers a platform to share experiences to learn about other departments’ efforts and achievements in delivering smart services.
