H.E. Ahmed Butti Ahmed, Executive Chairman of Ports, Free Zone and Customs Corporation, Director General Dubai Customs received a delegation from Singapore Customs headed by Director General, Mr Fong Yong Kian.
The parties discussed mutual means of cooperation for facilitating trade exchange between both parties and promoting levels of coordination for serving world trade movement through exchanging experiments between Dubai and Singapore in domain of Customs activities, taking into the account that both countries are of most vital world centres for trade, transport and logistics.
The Singapore Customs delegation expressed high admiration about Dubai Customs world business processes and appreciated its efforts for seeking to promote Customs business internationally, praising its successful efforts in hosting WCO’s Conference events of Effective Solutions for Coordinated Border Management -2013 which scheduled to start today, asserting that the hosted conference will contribute to enhance levels of coordination amongst Customs administrations and agencies worldwide to objectively ensuring more effective solutions for borders and ports management.

Dubai Customs Director General emphasized on Dubai Customs keenness on promoting trade exchanges between Dubai and Singapore, revealing that the total trade exchanges between the two Customs administrations reported to achieve Dh14bn in 2012 with an increase of 7% comparable to 2011.
The Singapore visiting delegation which included, Mrs Yu Peing Hoi, Director of IT Department and Mr Sharl bin Mahmoud, Executive Consultant, was briefed about the most important current applications at Dubai Customs that adopted to provide best service delivery to its clients, most remarkable of these, is the Risk Engine (NRE) – the concept that Dubai Customs developed to handling operational risks and mitigation process with aim of protecting the community from restricted and fake goods, reducing loss of government resources and enhancing risks management along with ensuring smooth work process.
During the meeting, the delegation learnt about the abilities of the “Mirsal2” - electronic clearance system which was in-house developed by Dubai Customs with aim of fostering all its Customs transactions into electronic environment with an attempt of providing best services delivery to its clients and ensuring to save time, efforts and cost towards contributing to enhance achievement of outcomes. The introductory briefing was also extended to explain on-going Suggestions System that Dubai Customs applies in receiving suggestions from internal and external customers, meanwhile, involve them with aim of promoting its systems and services.
