Within the framework of joint meetings Dubai Customs strives to carry out with strategic partners to reinforce and enhance bilateral relations, the fourth strategic meeting between Dubai Customs and Ministry of Environment and Water.
The meeting was attended by a team from Dubai Customs headed by Mr Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Executive Director of Client Management Division, and from the Ministry of Environment and Water, H.E. Abdul Rahim Al Hammadi, the Assistant Undersecretary for Support Services at the ministry, attended the meeting.
The two parties discussed ways for enhancing existing partnership between them and facilitating current work procedures between them. They also addressed several topics of mutual interest, including electronic networking between both sides, work mechanisms and procedures of air shipments imported through Dubai Airport, identifying adequate & mutual mechanism for seizures that infringe CITES, the convention on international trade in endangered species of wild fauna and flora.
The meeting is an activation of the MoU signed by the Ministry of Environment and Water and Dubai Customs last year, for purposes of boosting cooperation and coordination, sharing of information and experiences and utilizing the human capabilities and competencies available in both of them, which will help facilitate and simplify customs clearance procedures of environment-related materials that require a further procedure by the ministry as per the followed regulations, thus delivering exceptional services to customers.
The ministry plays a significant role in preserving the environment in the UAE in accordance to international standards. It offers all forms of support to customs departments in the country to help them perform their duties.
