Dubai Customs Honours Distinguished Employees at the Annual “ Fakhr Al Furdha”

As part of its strategic plan, Dubai Customs has launched a set of future projects to develop and improve employees performance, including the Competencies Matrix Project, aiming at setting a clear career path aligned to competencies for facilitating roles and job descriptions and the Talents Bank Project, through which qualified and competitive candidates are attracted to work for Dubai Customs together with developing and directing job opportunities for meeting the organizational objectives.
 
This was on the sidelines of the annual ceremony “Fakhr Al Furdha” held by Dubai Customs at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai on April 17, 2012 during which 185 employees under 8 different categories were awarded including 6 distinguished teams.
 
The ceremony was attended by HE Ahmed Butti Ahmed, Executive Chairman of Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation and Director General of Dubai Customs, Mr. Yousef Al-Sahlawi, Senior Executive Director of Corporate Affairs, Mrs. Nadia Abdulla Kamali, (Acting) Executive Director of HR, Financial and Administration Affairs, heads of departments and customs centres and a number of employees.
 
"Dubai Customs has made several achievements that contributed to building the emirate’s customs capacity, promoting quality of customs business and facilitating trade activity by virtue of its functional competencies and implementation of advanced systems" Mr. Butti said.
 
"The awards earned by Dubai Customs at the 15th Session of the Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP) Awards, were highly recognized at internal and external levels; the headmost of which  the leader of innovation and maker of achievements; HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE’s Vice-President and Prime Minister, Ruler of Dubai who awarded Dubai Customs 7 DGEP prizes" he pointed out.
 
"The earning of seven prizes, including the Technical/Technological Project (B2G) prize is a proof of the organizational keenness on adopting a continuous development methodology" he added.
 
"Dubai Customs winning of such prizes is the product of employees' consistent and honest work together with their enthusiasm towards this organization being the oldest government department in Dubai" he maintained
 
"Dubai Customs is keen on developing and training its human resources as they are the true capital for the development of the society and embarked upon using best systems and ways of developing and raising the competency of its human cadres and qualifying them to lead the customs business in the emirate in accordance with the best international practices" he said.
 
"Dubai Customs seeks to create and qualify its young leadership, attract national competencies and encourage all employees to render their best and work with the spirit of teamwork" he added.
 
Mr. Butti thanked employees for the distinguished performance of their duties and keenness on facilitating clients' customs procedures whereof contributing to the increase in customs revenue and supporting the national economy.

Mr. Butti affirmed that Dubai Customs used to value the employees' effort being the owners of brilliant achievements on annual basis as Fakhr Al Furdha deemed to be a great motivation to all employees with no exception as to keep on giving to this leading organization in customs business locally, regionally and internationally.
 
From her part, Mrs. Nadia Abdulla Kamali said that Fakhr Al Furdha aims at creating opportunities to qualify the personnel at Dubai Customs, as it is now believed that the human resources are the key variable in the business equation which are essential to any development or achievement in any initiative or project.
 
She added that Dubai Customs has kicked off a number of projects addressing its employees, as they are the main foundation the organization relies on in establishing the excellence pillars and providing everything it needs to enhance its leading role in boosting the country’s economy and prosperity. This can be done by preparing an educated employee who possesses the knowledge to execute and implement the Department’s policy and strategy to protect the community.
 
She stressed that Dubai Customs renews its vows to its personnel by providing them all with attention and care, helping them to work within a healthy environment that achieves occupational satisfaction and organizational loyalty. This includes improving employees’ services and upgrading communication and interaction means with them.
 
At the conclusion of the event, HE the Director General of Dubai Customs honoured distinguished employees who have left their marks in the work development at Dubai Customs.

The recognition was awarded within the following categories: Distinguished Customs Employee, Best Leader of Grade 11 & 12, Best Leader of Grade 13 and above, Best Customer Service Employee, Government Excellence Award, Inspection Excellence Award, Customs Award for Education and finally Best Performance Appraisal for 2010 & 2011.
