Since the establishment of the Hatta new border center in 2008, UAE government agencies have been working hard to secure and provide all facilitations for individuals and companies which use the users of the center in order to boost trade and tourism movement and consolidate social contact between UAE and Sultanate of Oman.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Yousif Al Sahlawi, Senior Executive Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Mahboob Musabah, Executive Director of Clients management Division, Mr. Mohammed Mater Al Mari, Executive Director of Customs Cargo Operations and Mr. Feryal Tawkul, Executive Director of Community Affairs and Government Partnership.
A number of Directors of Customs Administrations together with representatives from the Ministry of Environment and Water, Dubai Police Headquarters, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Road and Transport Authority, Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, General Administration of Civil Defense in Dubai and Etisalat Establishment attended the meeting as well.
“The meeting comes as part of Dubai Customs strategic plan with respect of establishing meaningful relations with all clients and strategic stakeholders and within the framework of joint cooperation and coordination along with strengthening corporate integration among different government departments towards improving performance and simplifying procedures”, said Mr. Yousif Al Sahlawi.
“In 2011 the number of different kinds of trucks arriving in the country via Hatta Customs Center accounted for 157740 trucks at a monthly rate of 13.000 trucks where food stuffs constitute 70% of the entire cargos”, he pointed out.
The master plan of Hatta Border Customs Center was reviewed at the meeting for which partners have produced their opinions and expectations on the project, suitable place to be established on, work mechanism for receiving those in transit from and to the country and customs procedures and clearing mechanism at the checkpoint.
“The meeting was concluded by submitting a set of recommendations to the Joint Committee of Hatta Border Post including the formation of a task force comprising of all government agencies of direct relevance to the project. This will assist with accelerating the achievement of every agency’s requirements, improving customs procedures and producing the appropriate solutions for the ground negative aspects in terms of the surrounding terrain and roads as well as providing services necessary for making the project successful in collaboration with all border agencies. A joint mechanism has also been agreed upon between government agencies and departments for clearing passengers and goods procedures ”, said Mr. Al Sahlawi.
