DC & DCCI ink MOU on cooperation & exchange of expertise

Dubai Customs (DC) and Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in order to strengthen the existing cooperation and joint coordination over a number of areas and establishing a new phase of permanent strategic partnership through implementing  a number of business projects.

The MOU was signed on Thursday 10 May 2012 at Customs Main Building by HE Ahmed Butti Ahmed , the Executive Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation and Director General of Dubai Customs and HE Engineer Hamad Mubarak Bau Emeem, Director General of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
 
Under the MOU, the two parties seek to consolidate efforts, exchange information and expertise, benefit from their human capabilities and competencies and improve customer service delivery standards.
 
"The MOU comes as part of the wise leadership`s vision and the country`s strategic trends towards strengthening cooperation and partnership, implementing strategic plans at DC and DCCI  in such a way that will serve public interest and mutual benefit together with effectively enhancing the existing strategic partnership between them according to an organizational system consistently guaranteeing and developing such relations,” said Mr. Butti.
 
"The MOU establishes a new phase of permanent strategic partnership between the two parties through joint processes and projects which include the electronic interconnectivity between the two departments, updating programs in line with the business developments, simplifying procedures and providing swift government services including issuance of certificates of origin and ATA Carnets as part of both departments' endeavor to achieve public interest and supporting economic and social development in UAE in general and Dubai in particular” he added.
 
From his part, HE Engineer Hamad Bau Emeem, the Director General of DCCI said that the enhancement of the spheres of cooperation between DC and DCCI under this MOU will cause further inciting factors for Dubai`s business environment.
 
"The electronic interconnectivity between the two sides will accelerate exchange of information together with making the services provided by both agencies more beneficial,” Engineer Bau Emeem maintained.
 
"Coordination will probably improve service delivery standards” he pointed out.
 
“The MOU reflects the existing partnership between DC and DCCI and will assist them with providing best services to their clients,” he said.
 
Engineer Bau Emeem regarded customer satisfaction and  delivery of higher quality customer service as the ultimate objective towards enhancing Dubai`s position as an attractive business destination.
 
"The MOU is a step forward for consolidating efforts, sharing knowledge and facilitating business flow,” he added.

Engineer Bau Emeem underlined DCCI's role in serving the business community affirming that improvement and renewal of services and initiatives reflect DCCI`s apparent commitment to  promote its performance.
 
The MOU will strengthen cooperation between the two parties with respect of participating in world economic events and promoting investment opportunities.
Ms. Feryal Tawkul, the Executive Director of Community Affairs and Government Partnership at Dubai Customs delivered at the beginning of the MOU signing ceremony, a presentation highlighting the existing joint cooperation between DC and DCCI.
 
DC, FCA and DCCI won the second place within DGEP Award recent session for the category of joint government project, which was “Temporary Admission System” launched last year under which 538 ATA Carnets were issued for cargos accounted for AED 560 million.
