Technological advancements are changing our lives with their huge impact. Nowadays we have much more access to news and information, but this comes at a price.
This was the main focus of the lecture around “Intellectual safeguarding” which was organized by Dubai Customs’ Training Center as part of the Department’s series of awareness events during the Holy Month of Ramadan. Dr Abdullah Al Kamali, the preacher in the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department delivered the lecture which was attended by Dubai Customs employees.

The lecture focused on the best ways to safeguard people against the flow of negative information through the internet, and how to take information from reliable sources. Some information and ideas violate Islamic and Arabic values and traditions.
Al Kamali highlighted the UAE’s tolerant and moderate approach, and its noticeable efforts in nurturing and sustaining cultural diversity. This helps in locking out opportunists who keep trying to push their own agenda.
“We should instill the values of tolerance, co-existence and giving in the hearts and souls of our children. Ramadan is a golden chance for all of us to ponder and reflect deeply on our attitudes and behavour to correct what needs correction. The Holy Month is also a good opportunity for all of us to practice the value of giving and feel the suffering of others” he added.
