Dubai Customs: AED 39.9b Dubai external trade in car spare parts in 2017

Concurrently with Dubai Automechanika 2018, Dubai Customs announced its figures of Dubai external trade in car spare parts in 2017. There is a 3% growth (AED 39.89b), and in terms of volume the trade made an 8.4% growth (2.25 million tons).

Imports made AED 22.35, and exports and re-exports made AED 17.54 which reflects the emirate’s active role in international trade in vehicle spare parts through its advanced services and the big facilitations provided by its ports and free zones.
 
 
Asia topped the list of continents in Dubai external trade in car spare parts in 2017 with a value of AED 26b, followed by Europe with AED 6.53b, America with AED 3.67b, and Africa with AED 2.77b.
Japan is Dubai’s biggest trade partner in this sector with AED 5.63b, followed by South Korea with AED 3b, the USA with AED 2.94b, Germany with AED 2.69b, and China with AED 2.39b.
Director of Dubai Customs Ahmed Mahboob Musabih said:” Growth in this type of trade is a success to the emirate’s overall external trade. We support and sustain this growth following the wise directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai who always encourages economic diversification. In order to do this, we continually develop our services and customs facilitations to attract investments and help investors maximize their profits”.
 
 
He added:” We also encourage innovation as a daily practice in our department, and use the latest technologies and smart applications to reduce time need for cargo clearance. Dubai, as an international and regional hub, succeeded in connecting the global market of spare parts and accessories. We connect manufacturers in Asia, Europe and North America and customs in different markets including the GCC, Arab Countries, Africa, the Indian Subcontinent, and South East Asia”. 
Musabih pointed out that Dubai achieved many advancements specially in infrastructure and transport sector. Dubai’s ports, airports and free zones are among the best worldwide and this promotes of the emirate as a global trade partner and host of Expo 2020, he said.
