January 15, 2017

Under the title "We ensure security, together we grow "Dubai Customs is geared up to launch its “2nd Dubai Customs Week" from 22nd. The event will focus on giving as a central theme following the principles and values of the Year of Giving as directed by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The activities will engage the elderly and people of special needs in cooperation with charities and foundations.
The Week is also meant to be a materialization of the saying of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai who said:
“The Giving that we aspire to is the one that can make a real difference in other people’s lives”.

Yousef Ozair, Director of Intellectual Property Rights Department (IPR) at Dubai Customs believes it’s the right time to focus on these two categories
“We need to include the elderly and people of special needs in our activities, we need to integrate them more and empower them to play a greater role in society”.
To this end, Dubai Customs’ Passenger Operations Department will organize a visit during the week to Dubai Club for the Disabled. It will reward the disabled members of the club on the World Customs Day and deliver a lecture to raise awareness around the risks and evils of drugs for college and university students.
Another activity will be organized by the Coastal Customs Centers Management on board a ship hosting a group of senior citizens. The event will also see attendance of government partners.
The 2nd Dubai Customs week will also include a workshop on illegal goods by Hatta Customs Center directed to strategic partners and school students, plus other activities at KidZania, the Arabian Center, and on board of cruise ships organized by IPR Department.
“We have diverse activities this year that will help us enhance our partnership with different society categories serving the values and principles of the Year of Giving” Ozair concluded.
