The Customs Training Centre of Dubai Customs has organized a celebration in honour of the first-class graduates of the newly launched Customs Cases Diploma programme, supervised by the Customs Cases and Investigation Department, in collaboration with the Customs Training Centre. 29 participants from various divisions and customs centres took part in the programme.
The closing ceremony was attended by Abdullah Al Khaja, Acting Executive Director of Client Management; Dr. Abdul Wahab Al Madani, Director of Customs Training Centre, and Taha Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director of Customs Cases and Investigations Department at Dubai Customs.
Dr. Al Madani said that the Customs Cases Diploma is the first-of-its-kind applied course in the field of customs cases and violation investigations. “It is in line with the strategic objectives of Dubai Customs to develop employee skills and equip them with specialized knowledge that would enable them to efficiently manage customs cases,” he added.
Taha Al Suwaidi noted that the 3-month Customs Cases course introduced the enrollees to the concept of customs cases and violations management. The programme covered several topics, including the Common Customs Law and other relevant laws, customs policies and declarations, customs tariff guide, international agreements, keys of customs cases, field visits to relevant technical departments, and legal settlement of customs cases.
“The programme has a post session phase to follow up on the filing of customs cases in the trainees’ workplaces across various customs centres, under the supervision of the Department of Customs Cases and Investigations,” said Al Suwaidi.
At the end of the ceremony, Mr. Abdullah Al Khaja, Mr. Taha Al Suwaidi and Dr. Abdul Wahab Al Madani conferred the diploma certificates to the programme participants, 5 of whom scored high distinction.
