Strategic partnership between Dubai Customs and DSC gets a boost

H.E Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, has discussed with Mr. Arif Al Muhairi, CEO of Dubai Statistics Center, ways to enhance the strategic partnership existing between the two corporations and to develop mechanisms of joint work in order to contribute in raising the level of the statistical work and the Customs work in the emirate. That has been conducted during the visit  made by a delegation from Dubai Customs headed by H.E Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, DC Director, to Dubai Statistics Center.
Whereas H.E Ahmed Mahboob, expressed his appreciation to Dubai Statistics Center for the warm welcoming, praising the important role played by the center in the economic life of the Emirate of Dubai in particular and the UAE in general through the statistical studies carried out by it in different areas, which help decision makers and provide investors with important information in a way that helps them to put their expansion plans in the markets of the UAE.
The Director of Dubai Customs said that his visit came in the framework of joint cooperation between DC and other departments and governmental bodies, in order to enhance the strategic partnership with Dubai Statistics Center given the paramount importance of the statistical work, being one of the most important tools for making the future. And he added that Dubai Customs is keen to put its strategic plans based on scientific basis and according to the information which direct those plans accurately and in a way it helps Dubai Customs to play its vital role in order to boost the local economy and to achieve the sustainable development. Particularly, Dubai Customs have been transferred into mobile governmental department which provides 24-hour services to its clients through devices and smart phones.
H.E Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, confirms that Dubai Customs' keenness on providing the different governmental bodies at the local and federal levels with the statistics of Dubai's non-oil external trade with the other countries in a way that will help the decision maker and the other work sectors and investors to put their plans and to take the appropriate decisions according to these accurate and periodic statistics.
Also, the delegation of Dubai Customs has reviewed the last version of the smart statistics suit through which the statistical work shall be operated at the level of the emirate. Whereas the mechanisms of the advanced statistical connection of the suit have been reviewed with different sources of recoded data and the field statistical databases produced by the center, that will provide central statistical database at the level of Dubai, characterized by high accurate and comprehensive standards. As well as, the customs delegation has reviewed the system of "indicators" which is designed to submit the direct statistical support to the senior leaders and decision makers. Then, the delegation has reviewed the interactive statistical system through its new version, which is designed to provide the statistical support to the planners and experts who submit help to the senior leaders.

 
Dubai Customs are considered one of the main sources of data in the smart statistics suit, so the statistics of Dubai Customs are reviewed besides the mechanisms of enhancing utilizing it by the users from different categories at different corporations and governmental departments in order to use the suit including its advanced statistical systems and programs.
On his part, Mr. Arif Al Muhairi confirmed the importance of this visit, which will raise the level of the strategic partnership between the center and Dubai Customs to the highest levels. Also, he appreciated the keenness and priority given by Dubai Customs to the statistical work and the joint work with Dubai Statistics Center, which confirms that the strategic work at Dubai Customs is on the right way. Whereas this level of interest in statistics at any corporation is considered one of the most important indicators to the high level of leading thought and the strategic work in the corporation, and he went on to say that the importance of the partnership between the center and the customs, represents in the importance and transferring the statistical data generated from Dubai Statistics Center's practices, which is considered the main entries in the structure of the macroeconomic indicators of the Emirate, the most important of which the indicator of GDP. 
And the customs team appreciated the remarkable statistical support submitted by the center besides its computerized statistical work. Also, H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih insisted on the necessity of the continued development of the statistical connection between the center and customs in addition to expanding the scope of connection in order to enhance the statistical support that could be submitted through the smart statistics suit either at the level of planers at Dubai Customs or the government. 
DC’s delegation comprised of Dr. Aqil M Hadi, Advisor to the Director of Dubai Customs, Ahmed Abdul Salam Kazim, Director of the Strategy and Corporate Excellence Department, Nassim Al Mehairi, Senior Manager of Statistics Section at the Strategy and Corporate Excellence Department. From DSC, Tariq Yousef Al Janahi, Acting Deputy Executive Director, Afaf Bu'aseebeh, Director of Economic Statistics Department, Maryam Al Mulla, Director of Price Statistics and External Trade, Ahmad Al Dashti, Director of Information Technology & Centralized Statistical Systems Department, and Ramla Al Wahidi, Director of Strategy and Corporate Excellence Office, all attended the meeting.
