Dubai Customs is set to participate in the Career Fair 2014 which is due to take place during April 20-22, 2014, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai .
Mrs. Nadya Kamali, Acting Executive Director, Human Resources, Finance and Administration, Dubai Customs, said, “The Career Fair is an important annual event that allows us to connect with young nationals among students and graduates to give them an idea about who we are and what we do. It’s vital to choose the right person for the right position. And at the career fair, there’s an abundance of people looking for work, so this is a great channel for us to help reach out to them and place the right people in the right place.”
Mrs. Kamali stressed that Dubai Customs pays utmost attention geared towards Emiratization as part of its strategic plan. “Dubai Customs believes that people are the real capital of the UAE, and it’s crucial to bring on board the qualified individuals,” she said.
“Our strategy is focused on attracting nationals to work in different sections within Dubai Customs such as inspection and administration. We have annual competency-based training plans to enable our employees to flourish and excel in their given positions. By providing such trainings, we raise the standards of work which contribute to our strategic objectives as well as enhance the status of Dubai as a global trading hub and a crossing point between East and West, “ Mrs. Kamali continued.
Dubai Customs will have two stands at the event, the first stand will be located in Hall 3 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, and the second stand will be a part of the Dubai Government stand. Human Resource officials will be available to meet all job seekers to discuss various areas of work in order to see what fits the candidates career objectives best.
Dubai Customs is currently working on enhancing its workforce, and increasing the number of nationals, by taking part in such events, which is a great channel to meet national job seekers, and attract them accordingly to suitable vacancies within Dubai Customs.
The Emiratization percentage at Dubai Customs is the highest in the government sector at 84%. The rate of nationals working in the inspection unit amounts to 100%. Recruitment specialists from Dubai Customs will be present to conduct specialized activities including interviews and more in order to identify the job seekers capabilities. Dubai Customs will present around 80 vacancies at this year’s Career Fair.
In line with the Dubai Smart City initiative, Dubai Customs will have a 100% smart stand. Job seekers and visitors will have access to six laptops and IPads to submit their applications electronically. The stand will also have three interview rooms, which were built for the sake of the job seekers comfort and privacy during the interview. Aside from the high tech gadgets and the rooms, the stand will have a lounge area, two large TV screens and a seizures show.
