Dubai Customs hosts next Wednesday 15th Annual Meeting of RILO ME

HE Ahmed Butti Ahmed, the Executive Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation and Director General of Dubai Customs will open Wednesday 9 May 2012  the 15th Annual Meeting of the World Customs Organization Regional  Intelligence Liaison Office in the Middle East and Member States (RILO ME).

The meeting , which will be hosted by Dubai for the first time in collaboration with the World Customs Organization (WCO) for two days at  Intercontinental Dubai Festival City Hotel, aims at facilitating WCO members` business in the area of exchange of information relating to combat of customs crimes namely smuggling of prohibited and counterfeited products, discuss the achievements made by WCO National Contacts Points in 2011 and review their plans for the current year.
 
Representatives of customs administrations and organizations from 15 Arab and foreign countries including  delegates from WCO and RILOs in Europe, Asia and Pacific and Africa will take part in the meeting.
 
In addition to the Director General of Dubai Customs, the Director of RILO ME and representative of WCO will deliver a speech,  while the latest achievements made by RILO ME in the past year together with reports and activities of the National Contacts Points in the member states over the current year will be reviewed at the following sessions.
 
On the next day of the meeting, the advantages and benefits of using Customs Enforcement Network (CEN), the regional and international joint operations and the building capacity plans, set to be discussed.
 
The United Nations Environment Program /Regional Office for West Asia (UNDEP/ROWA) will deliver a presentation highlighting their activities relating to customs business.
