Dubai Customs showcased its experience in its Productivity Disruption Project during the 3rd Forum of HR Directors 2019.
The project increases the productivity of employees using artificial intelligence by calculating the ideal time of working hours, automatically follow time, provide productivity index and forecast, and then make recommendations for leadership by applying special artificial intelligence algorithms.
The project has been approved by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council. The Executive Council has also directed the Dubai Government HR Department to study applying it to other government departments.
“Dubai Customs achieved positive results after applying the new project, and is happy to share this experience to other government departments in Dubai,” said Ahmed Abdul Salam Kazim, Director of Strategy and Corporate Excellence at Dubai Customs.
Kazim started his presentation with a number of interactive questions that he asked about productivity and how it can be measured. Then, he talked about the positive results Dubai Customs achieved after applying the first phase of the project. These include a more motivated workforce and have uncovered points of strength and weakness at the work environment.
Eman Saleh bin Khatim, Senior Manager of Policy and Program Support in the Dubai Government HR Department applauded Dubai Customs unique experience in disrupting productivity through this ground-breaking project thanks to its major role in boosting productivity and creating a stimulating work environment which will have a positive impact on the government sector in Dubai. She pointed out that the Dubai Government HR Department is studying ways to apply it to the public sector.
First phase of the project was completed during the 4th quarter of 2017 and 1st quarter of 2018. A number of workshops have been carried out to ensure the project is a best practice.
The productivity engine focuses on increasing the productivity of employees so they can handle more work without the need for new staff. The difference is that artificial intelligence can monitor what is not monitored by humans.
