Director General of Dubai Customs, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih pointed out that customs procedures and services followed in Dubai are a world model and have become a source of attention and praise from different parties including the World Customs Organizaiton and different international organizations’ representatives and delegates visiting the Department.
During his fifth visit to Dubai airports and the second to Terminal 2 in 2019, Musabih called on customs staff to go above and beyond to further facilitate procedures for passengers so that they enjoy best possible travel experience, especially with the growth of passengers of Dubai International Airport to 90m passengers annually.
Director of Dubai Customs toured the facilities at terminal 2 to closely view customs work in progress and the customs advanced systems in place. He was accompanied by Ibrahim Al Kamali, Director of Passenger Operations Department, Shuaib Al Suwaidi, Director of Customs Intelligence Department, and Falah Khalil Al Sammak, senior manager of DXB Terminal 2.
“We are proud that we are part of the Dubai International Airport success. Thanks to the efforts in automating customs procedures and streamlining the process, especially in busy seasons such as summer holidays and pilgrimage, Dubai Airport is maintaining its distinctive world status” said Musabih. “We always urge our staff to deal with the passengers in the most civilized way without compromising the security side. This comes in support of the leading projects in Dubai as a world strategic tourist and trade hub including the Dubai Silk Road.”
Ibrahim Al Kamali pointed out that passenger operations Department has dealt with 2.6 million passengers in terminal 2 in the first 6 months of 2019 which involved checking 2.61m luggage items which passed through 9 advanced inspection systems. Inspection officers made 152 seizures in the same period which included seizure of crystal meth and marijuana.
