Training Center at Dubai Customs launched a language learning program for customs inspection officers. This will help inspectors communicate with other clients of different nationalities in their native language. It also helps enrich the inspectors’ cultural experience and add value to their careers.
The program is part of Dubai Customs efforts to spread a message of tolerance among nations and enhance effective communication between Dubai Customs and their clients. This will also help towards a successful EXPO 2020 which the emirate is proud to host.
Inspection officers will learn five languages (Chinese, French, Spanish, Russian and intensive English) with focus on speaking and listening skills.

“We want to help our inspection officers gain more communication skills in different languages to be able to interact effectively with passengers traveling to Dubai from different parts of the world” Mohammed Al Ghaffari, Director of HR Department at Dubai Customs said.
The program in its first stage will target 100 inspection officers in Dubai Customs, and training for each language will take 3 months.

On his part, Khalid Al Ali, Senior Training Specialist said inspectors will get 3 levels of training for each language and Chinese will be the first to master.
“We have distinguished relationships with China and effective communication is one of the ways to improve and foster these ties following the directives and guidance of our wise leadership” Al Ali added.
