The shared Mass Wedding Committee of Ports Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) and General Directorate of Residence and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) held their first preparatory meeting at the GDRFA’s main office to discuss arrangements for the upcoming 8th mass wedding.

The meeting was attended by Khalil Saqer bin Gharib, Director of Corporate Communication Department, Head of Mass Wedding Committee and Colonel Al Shaban Al Tayer, Vice-Chairman of GDRFA’s Mass Wedding Committee and members of the two committees in order to discuss ideas and future plans of how best to organize the upcoming mass wedding.

Bin Gharib confirmed the importance of cooperation between Dubai Customs and different government departments to make mass weddings a success.

“These initiatives help families towards more stability and happiness. Happy families are our strategic objective. We help build stronger and more stable UAE families by supporting young people who plan to get married. We helped 700 male and female employees tie the knot and make stable families during the last seven years following the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.”

Bin Gharib applauded the partnership with GDRFA as an important means to achieve this goal in support of Dubai Vision 2021 and the UAE Centennial 2171.

On his part, Colonel Ali Shaban Al Tayer said:
“GDRFA stands behind its employees and supports them within and beyond the work scope. This initiative will considerably reduce the cost of marriage for the young men who plan to get married, and our partnership with PCFC will help them in that. Organising the mass weddings is one of the means we adopted to promote our social concepts and the success of the experience was tremendous. We want to highlight the role of mass weddings in creating social solidarity and enhancing the social ties between the members of the society and we want to turn the mass weddings into a social behaviour accepted and appreciated by all.”
