Dubai Customs’ Enterprise Architecture wins Open Group President ‘s Award

Dubai Customs earned a new international award in innovation. Its Enterprise Architecture, which was developed in-house, won the President’s Award – Service Delivery and Automation at the Open Group Innovation and Excellence conference, held in the Indian city Kochi this February. It is a prestigious event organized with a motivation to provide an excellent international platform for innovators and global experts to exchange and share their ideas and insights.


Various business and innovation leaders from around the globe participated in the conference. The best practices in enterprise architecture, IT, digital transformation, risk management and international supply chain were the main topics at the conference.
Director of Dubai Customs, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih applauded the achievement and thanked the team at the Customs Development Division and the Service Innovation Department for their dedication and hard work.


“These recognitions are the fruit of our teams’ relentless efforts and work towards the realization of our vision as a leading customs organization. The Enterprise Architecture has streamlined the procedures and led to more client satisfaction. We hit a record in client happiness topping the happiness meter with 97.45% thanks to our advanced systems and products which employ artificial intelligence and smart applications” says Musabih. 
On his part, Juma Al Ghaith, Executive Director of Customs Development Division at Dubai Customs touched on the latest advancements that led to the development of the Enterprise Architecture.


“This smart system streamlines our business and leads to easier and hassle-free customs procedures whilst saving cost and raising performance” Al Ghaith said.
Hussam Juma, Director, Service Innovation Department attributed this achievement to the great efforts exerted by the higher management team at Dubai Customs who helped build an innovation incubator within Dubai Customs workplace.


“This award is one of many accolades that Dubai Customs gained within its ongoing trip to achieve a distinctive worldwide leading role. Dubai Customs applies the best practices in order to incorporate innovation as a daily practice within its work environment. For this it encourages its people to create new and innovative services and products that can help overcome challenges, increase clients’ happiness and support the national economy” Al Ghaith said.
The Open Group, headquartered in the USA, is a global consortium that enables the achievement of business objectives through technology standards. Their diverse membership of more than 625 organizations includes customers, systems and solutions suppliers, tool vendors, integrators, academics, and consultants across multiple industries.

 

 


In the conference, Hussam Juma outlined the main role of the Enterprise Architecture which ensures that business and technology are in alignment by linking the business mission, strategy, and processes of Dubai Customs to its technology strategy, and by documenting this using multiple architectural models. The Enterprise Architecture, among other factors, helped Dubai Customs top Dubai’s Happiness Meter with 97.45%. There are many AI services that save the clients’ time and efforts.


 “We have created and developed our Enterprise Architecture in-house which helps serve as a unified IT environment across Dubai Customs. With this we promote alignment, standardization, reuse our existing IT assets, and share common methods for project management and software development across Dubai Customs. The end result is that the enterprise architecture will make IT cheaper, more strategic, and more responsive” Juma added.


The award is given to members, teams and individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to industry innovation through the development of open standards and architectural best practices.
