Dubai Customs enhances and sustains growth of Dubai external trade by streamlining and facilitating customs procedures and operations, and equipping all the emirate’s entry points with the latest and most advanced technologies. The Hatta Border Crossing is one of these strategic entry points, and the enhanced services provided there were translated in noticeable growth in trade between Dubai and Oman, which made AED 15.8 billion during the first nine months of 2018; AED 4b for imports and AED 11.76b for exports and re-exports.

A total of 1.5 million passengers crossed the border to the UAE last year on board 684,000 vehicles and more than 3,000 buses and coaches. During the year, 147.8 million declarations were completed, and 965 seizures were made.
The Hatta Border Crossing is a strategic entry point between the UAE and Oman, and it facilitates trade and passenger traffic between the two countries which can reach up to 2 million passengers.
During his evening tour to the Hatta Border Crossing, Director of Dubai Customs, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih pointed out the high quality services provided to clients contributed significantly in helping Dubai Customs top the Happiness Meter with 97.49%; the highest among government departments.

“At Dubai Customs we keep developing our services, and this helps our different customs centers, including Hatta, achieve the overall vision of securing the borders and supporting legitimate trade. Different goods pass the borders between Oman and the UAE everyday including vegetables and fruits, perfumes, electrical and electronic appliances, foodstuff, juices, dairy products, ceramic, vehicles and heavy machinery”.
In his evening tour, Musabih was accompanied by Abdullah Mohammed Al Khaja, Executive Director of Clients Management Division, Mohammed Al Muaini, Director of Land Customs Centers Management, and Hamad Kajour, Director of Hatta Border Crossing. Evening time at the border is always marked with more traffic of heavy trucks loaded with goods.
Musabih applauded the fruitful cooperation between Dubai Customs staff working at the Hatta Border Crossing and the strategic partners including Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, and Hatta Police.
Dubai Customs is building a new terminal with more capacity and better facilities, and the inspection yards will be renovated and equipped with more advanced devices.
Director of Dubai Customs praised the active participation and involvement of the center’s employees in different events such as the UAE 2nd Customs Week, the UAE National Day, the Commemoration Day, and Hatta Walks.
