Following the principles set by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and to contribute towards a vision that sees Dubai the happiest and smartest city on earth, Dubai Customs offers passengers into Dubai airports the best services regardless of their nationalities, race, religion, color or language. The ten commandments of governance shared by His Highness in his book Qisati (my story) encourages and calls for this approach.
Terminal (2) at Dubai International Airport implemented a number of programs and activities to upgrade the services provided to passengers, especially at holiday travel seasons.
last year, terminal (2) received 6 million passengers, and customs inspectors dealt with 6 million suitcases. Inspection officers at Terminal (2) made 203 seizures in 2018 including 81 narcotic contrabands, 59 customs cases and 63 criminal cases.
During his tour of terminal (2), as part of his regular tours of inspection to different customs centers and departments, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs reiterated the world renowned status of Dubai International Airport, which maintained its position as the busiest airport in the world for the 5th year in a raw, with 89.14 million passengers in 2018 which means a 1% increase from 2017.
Musabih added that there are challenges facing customs authorities, especially in strategically located cities like Dubai which invested billions to get the infrastructure of its ports and airports to a very advanced world class level.
“We keep innovating to help passengers visiting Dubai have a pleasant experience and to save them time and effort. For example, we have recently rolled out “ideclare” application which enables passengers to Dubai declare their belongings if needed in only 5 minutes, rather than 45 minutes” Musabih said.
Musabih highlighted the important role the Passenger Operations Department plays to maintain security and assist passengers in the best possible way, and promised to keep the momentum towards Expo 2020 and beyond.
Last year the Passengers Operation Department at terminal (2) cheered its passengers during the summer season by offering them cold water and juices, and gifts and toys to younger passengers.
