Dubai Customs won the Innovation Shield for their efforts in promoting and enhancing the use of Arabic language at the 8th UAE Ideas Conference & Award, which was organized at Grand Hyatt Hotel Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of the Dubai Airports, Chairman and Chief Executive of the Emirates Airline & Group and the Honorary Patron of Dubai Quality Group.
The 8th edition of the Award aimed to encourage local innovative ideas in order to enhance national identity and support innovation in fulfilment of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai of turning innovation into a daily practice and a lifestyle.
H.E. Engr. Sheikh Salem bin Sultan bin Saqr Al-Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation, Ras Al Khaimah honoured Dubai Customs by giving the Innovation Shield to Dr Shaikha Al Ghafiri and Shaikha Masoud Al Ahbabi in the presence of Omar Hasan, Chairman of Dubai Quality Group and Hussain Al Fardan, Senior Manager of Dubai Customs' Innovation Centre, Chairman of Ideas UAE.
Ahmed Abdul Salam Kazim, Director of Strategy and Corporate Excellence at Dubai Customs said:
“Innovative and new ideas support trade and customs operations. They also contribute towards a better and happier work life. Winning the Innovation Shield this time was the result of the incessant efforts made by Dubai Customs Knowledge Club to promote Arabic and encourage its use following the emirate’s vision and its eight principles of governance”.
On his turn, Hussain Al Fardan, Senior Manager of Dubai Customs' Innovation Centre, Chairman of Ideas UAE said:
“We have developed a system that encourages and incubates innovation in support of customs performance and the emirate’s overall vision. Dubai Customs won an award as the best Expo 2020 supporting entity at the Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP)”.
He added:
“The Innovation Shield raises the number of innovation awards won by Dubai Customs to 95 awards (69 international and 26 local) and our employees have developed 113 innovations which helped in lowering costs and increasing revenues by an estimated AED 1.8b”.
