
Dubai Customs celebrated yesterday, Tuesday 28th August 2018 the Emirati Women’s Day 2018 its main building in Port Rashid. This year’s theme: 'Women on the Course of Zayed’ aims to highlight the work the late founding father of the UAE did in supporting women's progress in the country.
The Emirati Women’s Day is an annual event announced by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) to celebrate women and their achievements in the UAE.

The event took place in the presence of Abdullah Mohammed Al Khaja, (Acting) Director of Dubai Customs and a number of executive directors and employees.
A video was displayed during the event in which the higher management spoke about the noticeable role women play in building society and developing economy. It also included a statement from Sultan bin Sulayem, DP World Group Chairman & CEO and Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation who thanked the country’s wise leadership for empowering women and enabling them to assume leading roles in society.

The event included a breakfast for female employees organized by the Women's Committee at Dubai Customs. Mariam Khalifa Al-Shamsi, Head of the Committee said: “The achievements of Emirati women are due to the efforts of the country’s founder and the creator of its advancement, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, to support and empower women, as well as those of the wise leadership, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum”.
Dubai Customs provide equal chances of employment to both genders and encourages women to join the department. There are 727 female employees working at Dubai Customs; 3 of them work at leading positions; 436 of them are mothers and 201 of them have higher education.
