To mark the Year of Zayed, man of the environment, Dubai Customs’ Ghayyath Volunteer Team launched “Ghars Zayed (Saplings of Zayed) Initiative to plant 4,000 saplings in a one square kilometer area in Al Marmoum in Dubai.
The event took place in the presence of Farid Hassan Al Marzouqi, Executive Director, Human Resources, Finance and Administration Division, and Khalil Saqer bin Gharib, Director of Corporate Communication Department.
“This initiative is meant to remind all of us of the great role Late Sheikh Zayed played in protecting the environment. It is also a bid to enthuse people, especially younger generations, about going green and a celebration and a reminder of the leading role that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan played in greening the UAE and seeking environmental sustainability.
Fuad Al Shihhi, Head of Dubai Customs’ Volunteer Team said: “It’s the legacy of Zayed and his great deeds that inspired us to plant the trees and green the area”.
