Dubai Customs added an accolade to the many accreditations and unprecedented achievements it has by attaining the ISO 26000 in CSR. The Department received this accreditation in recognition to its long CSR strategic plan and commitment.
Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs received the certificate from Nizar Bashairah, Regional Manager of Tuv Intercert, the international independent certification group.

ISO 26000 is the international standard developed to help organizations effectively assess and address those social responsibilities that are relevant and significant to their mission and vision; operations and processes; customers, employees, communities, and other stakeholders; and environmental impact.
Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs pointed out that it’s no stranger for Dubai Customs, within its quest for perfection, to attain such an achievement and reach this level.
“It’s part of our plans and strategies at Dubai Customs to instill a culture that respect social responsibility and deals with it as a daily practice,” said Musabih. “This is a continuation and fruition of our efforts which embody the values the late Sheikh Zayed stood for all his life. The Year of Zayed 2018 will see us engage in different CSR activities to pay back to our community”.
He added: “We have a clear strategy in place that adopts the values and principles of CSR which includes means to protect the environment and preserve natural resources. This will lead to a sustainable development in our national economy”.
On his turn, Khalil Saqer bin Gharib, Director of Corporate Communication Department said: “Gaining this accreditation is due to our implementation of the best practices and unprecedented initiatives in the CSR front”.
Bin Gharib pointed out that Dubai Customs aims to achieve sustainable development for all stakeholders in support of Dubai’s general and long term vision.
The Department ran a number of initiatives that involved voluntary work, and for the record it started to issue its yearly bilingual sustainability report from 2014 to keep stakeholders, clients and the audience informed of procedures taken to introduce the best level of service to global partners.
Dubai Customs carried out around 162 initiatives during 2017 which targeted more than a million people. Between 2009 and 2017 Dubai Customs gained 35 accolades in CSR.
Senior Manager of Quality Assurance at Dubai Customs Samira Abdul Razzak said: “The new recognition reflects our commitment to Dubai Plan 2021 and is an integral part of the UAE national strategy”.
