Dubai Customs celebrates winners of Arab Ideas 

Dubai Customs won three awards at Arab Ideas and UAE Ideas in Q1, 2021. The Big Vehicle Scanning System won the idea of the year title under technology category, and the Cross Border E-Commerce Platform under finance category. 

The third award went to the Inspector Safe Passage, which was created to protect inspectors and sterilize them before embarking on their inspection routines.

H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs honored the winners, in the presence of Eng. Hassan Omar, Chairman of Dubai Quality Group, Dr. Abdullah Busnad, Executive Director of Customs Inspection Division, Rashid Al Sharid, CEO, Administration and Finance Division, Eng. Khawla Ibrahim Alsaleis, Director - Administration Affairs Department, and Hussain Al Fardan, Chairman of Ideas Arabia and Head of Innovation Center.  

Other accolades included the Innovation Oasis Lab, which received full accreditation from the Global Innovation Institute. 

Dubai Customs launched the first Innovation League in the UAE to motivate employees and encourage them find creative solutions to any challenge they might face. The Government Department has also inaugurated the 2nd International Innovation, a joint initiative by the Ministry of Economy and Dubai Customs for the second consecutive year.
“We celebrate innovation in our workplace and encourage our people to be always creative in order to maintain our leading position worldwide,” said Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs. “We have an outstanding record over the past 50 years, which reflects our active participation in the national sustainable development efforts. Celebrating the UAE Golden Jubilee, we are determined to keep the distinctive performance to ensure leadership in all fields in the next 50 years, towards the UAE Centennial 2071.

“Inspired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai who said (Government innovation is the foundation for any development and the catalyst to make the future) we continuously develop disruptive ideas and turn them into practical projects that can serve our vision in facilitating trade and protecting the society. For this, we chose innovation to be one of the 5 pillars of Dubai strategic plan 2021-2026.”

In the same vein, Hussein Al Fardan said; “We encourage team work at the Innovation Center. This helps us develop faster and bigger. Creative solutions have helped us during the spread of the pandemic in turning the challenge into an opportunity. Despite the global lockdown in 2020, Dubai Customs developed 91 disruptive innovations, which raises the total of disruptive innovations to 237. For this, Dubai Customs received 127 innovation awards up until the end of 2020.”
