Dubai Customs turns off lights and takes part in DEWA’s “Earth Hour” event at Bay Avenue Park
On Saturday , March 19, Dubai Customs took part in the annual Earth Hour event organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), encouraging communities, home proprietors, companies and individuals around the globe to turn off lights and non-essential electric ware for one hour; in order to highlight the threat of the climate change.
On its part , Dubai Customs switched off lights at its Port Rashid HQs and all Customs Centers across Dubai from 20:30 until 21:30 in line with the noble awareness goal of this global occasion and as a symbolic contribution to reducing the greenhouse effect.
On the individuals level, a group of Dubai Customs employees took part in DEWA’s event marking this occasion, held in Dubai Business Bay and attended by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA and Saeed Ahmed Al Tayer, Executive Director of Policies and Legislation Division at Dubai Customs.
The Corporate Social Responsibility Section of the Corporate Commination Department at Dubai Customs played a major role in highlighting DC’s participation in this event while keeping pace with its longstanding commitment towards CSR engagements relating to world issues such as global warming.
Dubai Customs is always keen on bringing the attention of its employees to the need for promoting rational electricity consumption at peak times whether at work or at home, in order to reduce carbon footprint and to lower the damages arising from the overuse of energy resources.
