DC’s Customs Cases and Investigation Department explores cooperation with Sharjah Customs
A delegation from the Customs Cases and Investigation Department at Dubai Customs paid a visit to Sharjah Customs, as part of a benchmarking agenda of customs departments in the UAE.
The delegation included: Taha Al Suwaidi, Director of Customs Cases and Investigation, Hisham Mirza, Senior Legal Researcher, and Mohammed Khalifa Ibrahim, Investigation Team Leader, Sea Zone and Jebel Ali. They were received by Jasim Humaid, Director of Sharjah International Airport Free Zone Customs Centre, in presence of Abdul Nasser Al Muhairi, Assistant- Director of Sharjah International Airport Free Zone Customs Centre, Abdullah Houkal, Manager of Clearance Section, Ahmed Al Oud, Senior Customs Officer, and Hussain Ali Al Raisi.
The two sides had a coordination meeting, in which they discussed work mechanism, seizures, smuggling, customs violations, investigation tactic and how to examine customs cases thoroughly and make well-informed decision.
Al Suwaidi noted that the goal of the visit was to learn about best practices in examining customs cases and violations of all kinds, after which the cases are referred to competent authorities in the country.
At the end of the meeting, the Director of Customs Cases and Investigation at Dubai Customs invited Sharjah Customs officials to visit Dubai Customs and learn about its best practices and E-Systems which helped position Dubai Customs in a leading place globally in regard to customs processes and proceeding with legal cases .
