Customs Cases Department discusses cooperation with DM food lab
A Dubai Customs delegation visited Dubai Central Laboratory of Dubai Municipality. The visit aimed at getting briefed about the work processes followed at the Food and Environment Laboratory section while handling samples of medical herbs received from Customs centres, particularly the narcotic herbal mixture known as “spice”. The lab examines such herbs, upon which they are classified as either restricted or prohibited drugs.
The DC delegation was headed by Mr. Taha Al Suwaidi, Director of Customs Cases and Investigation Department, and comprised Mr. Saif Al Suwaidi, Manager of Maritime and Jebel Ali Investigation Section, as well as Mohammed Khalifa Ibrahim and Mohammed Khalifa Buadil.
In operation since 1975, the ISO certified Food and Environment Lab of Dubai Central Laboratory conducts 32 tests on various medical and nutritional materials, including physiochemical and microbiological examinations on foodstuffs.
